The cost of a repair outside the warranty depends on which model you own and what defect is present.
So that you know in advance what costs might come your way before sending your watch in, we'll always tell you the maximum possible repair costs for the defect you've described, based on your description of the fault.
How do I find out the repair price?
Please contact our customer service team first and describe as precisely as possible what problem you're having with your watch.
The following information is helpful:
- the exact model of your watch
- your order number, if you have one
- as precise a description of the defect as possible
- how long the problem has existed
- whether the watch was previously dropped or exposed to a strong impact
- photos of any visible damage
- for issues with running, function or noise, a short video if possible
Based on this information, we can often already get a good idea of the repair case and tell you the maximum repair price for the problem you've described.
Are there fixed repair prices?
We can assign many repairs to a specific repair service based on the model and the particular fault pattern.
The price depends, for example, on whether:
- a single component needs to be replaced
- the movement needs to be repaired or replaced
- a more extensive overhaul is required
- several components are damaged
- or only a minor technical job is needed
That's why there isn't just one flat repair price for all STERNGLAS watches.
Will I get a cost estimate?
No. We don't provide a classic cost estimate.
Instead, we'll tell you the maximum possible repair costs for the defect you've described before you even send your watch in.
This way, you'll know from the start the maximum amount you'll need to budget for.
Can the repair end up cheaper than the maximum amount stated?
The amount we quote you represents the maximum repair price for the fault pattern you've described.
What work is actually needed may only become clear once the watch has been technically inspected.
What happens if a different defect is found during inspection?
If the inspection reveals a different or additional problem that doesn't match your original description of the fault, other repair measures may be necessary.
If this would result in different costs, we'll let you know how to proceed.
When is a repair chargeable?
A repair may be chargeable, for example, if:
- the warranty period has already expired
- the damage was caused by a fall or impact
- there's external damage
- it's a case of normal wear and tear
- damage was caused by improper use
- or the defect isn't covered by our warranty
We always check whether it's genuinely a warranty case based on the specific situation.
Do I have to send my watch in first to find out what the repair will cost?
No.
Please don't send your watch in unprompted.
Contact our customer service team first and describe the problem to us. We'll then let you know the maximum possible repair costs and the next steps.
This way, you can decide whether you want to go ahead with the repair before you even send your watch in.
Are there additional shipping costs?
No, we cover the shipping costs for you in full.
Is a repair always economically worthwhile?
This depends on the model, the age of the watch and the extent of the damage.
If several repair options are available for your watch, we'll let you know about the solution planned for your case and the corresponding maximum costs.
This way, you can decide for yourself whether you want to go ahead with the repair.
How do I start a chargeable repair?
Contact our customer service team and send us, if possible:
- your order number, if you have one
- the exact model of your watch
- a description of the defect
- photos or videos, if the problem is visible in them
We'll check the details you've provided and then let you know:
- which repair is likely to be needed
- what the maximum repair costs for this could be
- how to send your watch in
- and whether additional shipping costs will apply
Please only send your watch in once you've received the relevant information from us about how the repair will be handled.
