What does water resistance mean?
The water resistance of a watch is often given in ATM. This figure describes the test pressure a watch can withstand under laboratory conditions.
It's important to know: water resistance isn't a permanent property and doesn't mean a watch is completely water resistant in every situation.
Depending on the ATM rating, a watch is suitable for different everyday situations. Splashes of water in daily life are something different from showering, swimming or diving. Changes in temperature, soap, salt water or chlorinated water can also put strain on the seals.
To make sure your watch stays reliably protected, we recommend having its water resistance checked regularly – especially if the watch often comes into contact with water or is already a bit older.
Please also make sure the crown is always fully closed before the watch comes into contact with water.
