Slight light reflections on your watch crystal are completely normal and depend heavily on lighting, glass shape, and dial color. This is not a quality or manufacturing defect.
Why does my watch reflect light?
Even though we use high-grade, double anti-reflective sapphire crystal, reflections cannot be 100% eliminated due to physics. The visibility of reflections depends on two main factors:
Dark Dials: Reflected light stands out much more clearly on black, blue, or dark dials due to the high contrast compared to light-colored dials.
Domed Glass: Curved sapphire crystals naturally catch more ambient light from multiple angles than completely flat glass.
Is my crystal defective or improperly fitted?
No, you can rest assured that your watch is perfectly fine. If your crystal shows visible reflections, it does not mean there is a material or assembly fault. All watches within a model series use the exact same double anti-reflective sapphire crystal.
How is the sapphire crystal anti-reflective coated?
We deliberately rely on a double anti-reflective coating on the inside of the crystal. A third anti-reflective layer would be technically possible, but it could create a greenish tint on the crystal, which we want to avoid to preserve the aesthetics of our watches. Additionally, an outer coating could scratch in everyday use. Double internal coating therefore offers the perfect combination of durability and unaltered optics.
