Yes, our sapphire crystals feature a double special anti-reflective coating. This coating significantly reduces light reflections and ensures a clear, neutral view of the dial.
How does the anti-reflective coating work at Sternglas?
Our domed sapphire crystals feature a double anti-reflective layer. We deliberately refrain from adding a third layer: while another coating would technically reduce minimal reflections, it could give the crystal a greenish tint. To preserve the neutral design and consistency of the dial's color, we use the optimal double coating.
Why do some models still show slight reflections?
An anti-reflective coating significantly reduces reflections, but cannot eliminate them 100%. How much a crystal reflects depends on two factors:
Glass shape: Domed glass catches more ambient light due to its curvature than flat glass.
Dial color: On dark dials (e.g., black or blue), light reflections are slightly more visible than on light-colored dials due to the high contrast.
