An automatic watch should be serviced regularly so that the mechanical movement keeps running reliably in the long term.
How often a service makes sense depends on the use, model and condition of the watch. As a rough guide, a service every few years can be a good idea.
Many small components work together inside the watch. Over time, oils can age, lubricants can wear down and individual components can wear out.
