A stainless steel mesh/link bracelet can be shortened by removing individual bracelet links. To do this, you will need suitable tools, such as a watch link removal tool or an appropriate pin pusher.
In our video tutorial, we show you step-by-step how it works:
Which links can be removed? As a rule, only specific links can be removed. You can usually identify these by small arrow markings on the inside of the bracelet. The arrows indicate the direction in which the pins must be pushed out of the bracelet. Please only remove links intended for this purpose and proceed carefully to avoid damaging the bracelet, pins, or surface.
Pay attention to the following: To ensure the clasp sits as centrally as possible on your wrist later, it is recommended to remove the links as evenly as possible from both sides of the clasp. If an uneven number of links needs to be removed, it may make sense to remove one more link from one side than from the other.
After shortening, you should check whether:
all pins are inserted completely and securely
all links can move freely
the clasp closes correctly
the bracelet fits comfortably and is neither too loose nor too tight
Can I shorten the bracelet myself? In principle, this is possible with the right tools. However, if you are unsure or have never shortened a link bracelet before, we recommend having the bracelet adjusted by a watchmaker or a local jeweler. This avoids scratches, damaged pins, or an incorrectly assembled bracelet.
Tip: Be sure to keep any removed links and pins. If you want to lengthen the bracelet again later or if your preferred wrist length changes, the original links can easily be reinserted.
